Skills for Purchasing LED Plant Grow Light

If you wish to grow plants, but live in an area with limited natural light, you can choose LED plant grow lights. In some regions where long winters are possible, plants have difficulty growing due to their inability to photosynthesize. Your best choice is to use LED plant grow lights. If you're planning to buy some, here are some tips.

Ⅰ. How to choose LED plant grow lights

1. What kind of plants do you grow?

Before buying indoor plant grow lights, you must know what you are going to use them for. Since the main purpose of plant grow lights is to provide light that plants can use for photosynthesis, you need to know the type of plants you will be growing.

When you know your type of plants, find out in which conditions they thrive so you can supply their needs. LED plant grow lights may have different functions that affect plant lifespan and different plants respond very differently to various conditions.

2. What is the acreage of your planting land?

If you plan to grow plants at home, you probably don't need a ton of LED plant grow lights. However, if you plan to grow plants in a large greenhouse, several units are required. You need to know the surface area so you can calculate the amount of light that should be provided.

If the surface area is large, you can use multiple units so that each plant receives enough light. Those that are directly under the light will not have problems with photosynthesis because they will get enough light. However, those plants that are kept away from sunlight may have difficulty growing healthily.

Ⅱ. Several methods of judging the quality of LED plant grow lights

LED plant grow lights are cutting edge solutions for indoor plant growth, especially biological greenhouses today. Therefore, when purchasing LED plant grow lights, you need to consider their durability, which mainly includes three parts: lamp beads, heat dissipation and power supply.

The structure must be of high quality. Low-quality ones are cheap, but low-quality plant grow lights will be a waste of your investment.

In addition to being affordable, you need to find a device that doesn't flicker or generate too much heat. For plants to thrive, they need enough light.

So if your light is constantly on and off, the plants won't get as much light as they need. Too much heat can damage not only your plants but also your device. Poor quality construction can cause LED plant grow lights to overheat.

Photosynthetically active radiation or PAR is light that benefits plants. It is a substitute for sunlight that plants need so they can photosynthesize. LED plant grow lights can have different PAR values depending on the manufacturers. Having said that, a higher PAR value doesn't necessarily mean a better bulb.

LED plant grow lights can overheat, especially if you use them for at least 15 hours a day to provide enough light for your plants. Therefore, your LED plant grow light should have an efficient cooling system.

The heat in LED bulbs works at the back. So there should be a heatsink in this area. It dissipates heat so it doesn't overheat equipment or plants.

Many different brands make a wide variety of variants so it is difficult to choose LED plant grow lights. Each product will have various features that may or may not benefit different users.

The best you'll probably find is the one that offers dimmable light. Dimmable LED plant grow lights are very effective because you can adjust them according to your needs.

You can set a schedule for when your LED plant grow lights will turn on and off, so you don't have to do it manually. Some even allow you to adjust the intensity and spectrum of light to suit the plants you're growing.

LED plant grow lights are not cheap. Regular LED bulbs for home lighting are not as cheap as incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. So for LED plant grow lights that can provide life to plants, they cost even more.

While you may find cheaper variants of LED plant grow light, consider whether it's really worth it. Sometimes cheap one doesn't always save your money because of poor quality, which may even cost you more on repairs or replacements. Therefore, choose the product with the highest value all the time.
