What Effect Does the Luminous Flux of Led Plant Light Have on Plants?

Among the parameters of LED plant lights we often see, there is a parameter called luminous flux. But what is the effect of luminous flux on plants?

1. The definition of the luminous flux of LED plant lights

Luminous flux is of great significance to human visual perception. On the one hand, according to the difference of luminous flux, the light response felt by the naked eye is different; on the other hand, according to the difference of human vision, the naked eye has different visual perception of the same luminous flux in the same wavelength band.

Luminous flux refers to the radiant power that the human eye can feel. It is the product of the radiant energy of a certain band and the relative viewing rate of the band per unit time, and the unit is lumens (lm). Because human eyes have different relative viewing rates for different wavelengths, even if the radiant power of different wavelengths is the same, the luminous flux is not the same. Conversely speaking, even if the luminous flux is the same, if it is light of different wavelengths, the radiation power is also different.

In other words, red light with a wavelength of 680 can reach 1000 (lm) under certain condition, and green light with a wavelength of 520 can also reach 1000 (lm) under another condition.

2. The luminous flux of LED plant lights affects plant growth

For plants, the most important thing about LED plant lights is to emit the red and blue light that plants need, or full spectrum plant lamps that simulate sunlight, which are used to assist in planting high-quality plants. The most important factors that affect the lighting effect of LED plant lights include light quality, light intensity, and light time. Therefore, as for the same red light and green light with a luminous flux of 1000 (lm), one plant absorbs a lot, while the other plant almost does not absorb it, so, the luminous flux cannot be completely used as a factor that may affect the light supplement effect of an LED plant light.

However, if it is the same red light required by plants of the same wavelength, the greater the luminous flux is, it indirectly indicates that the red lamp beads of the LED plant light emit more light, the plants can get more sufficient light and grow better.
